The Royal Bahamas Police Department issued an alert on Monday advising that the boy was bitten at around 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15 during an expedition.
According to the preliminary investigation, the boy was bitten on his right leg by a shark while participating in an expedition in a Shark Tank at a local resort on Paradise Island, officials say.
He was taken to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation of the wound, where he was listed in stable condition on Tuesday.
No additional information was released by the police. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
